Stamp Camp Episode 1

Okay, So I am few days late posting the first episode of "Stamp Camp." It has been a busy week at work and the time got away from me. Please excuse my cat who decided to make a guest appearance. In this video, I demonstrated two of our current stamp sets and explained the differences between our photopolymer stamps and new Cling Stamps. Stampin' Up has grown so much in the last 20 years. I still remember when the catalog was all wood and red rubber. It was a lot like assembling a puzzle and you had to cut out your stamps before adhering them permanently to the wood block. We have slowly phased out most of our wood mount stamps, but if you just absolutely love the wood blocks, you can still purchase the background stamps in wood mount. I love that Stampin' Up has kept the traditional red rubber and incorporated it into the world of cling stamps and we have this hybrid between the old and new. The photopolymer stamps are also amazing. I particularly love that you can see all the way through them and line things up exactly where you want them. It is perfect for 2 step stamping and stamping with layers. Just remember when you are using your photopolymer stamps you NEED the piecing mat underneath- this basically creates the padding that our red rubber Cling stamps have built in, while still maintaining the integrity of the clear stamp. In this episode, we also discussed how to assemble and use our stamps with the use of clear blocks. Our clear blocks come in a variety of sizes so that you can easily position all of your stamps. The biggest take away from assembling our cling stamps is to make sure that you peel half the sticker away at a time so that you have more control over the positioning of the image. Because the cling is designed to be extra sticky to insure that your stamp doesn't fall off your block, once you stick down the sticker, it is not going to release from the foam very easily and you risk ruining your foam base which will ultimately affect the quality and effectiveness of your stamped image. It is always better to trim away extra sticker than to pull up your sticker and destroy your stamp! The stickers are designed slightly larger than your image so that you have a little wiggle room with placement. I usually just take my paper snips to the edges that hang off- easy peasy! In the last segment of this episode, we talked about how to stamp the images in the different ink pads and how to avoid getting extra lines around your image. You want to make sure that you are tapping gently in your classic stampin' pads and that you push straight down and lift away from the paper. If you wiggle or rock you are more likely to have extra lines or your image will appear blurry. Finally, cleaning your stamps, I love my simply shammy it fits perfectly in our full wide stampin' cases or if you cut your shammy in half it fits perfectly in the half wide case. All you have to do is wet it at the sink, squeeze out the extra water and clean away! After the shammy has been left out for a while, it will become stiff and dry, no worries! Simply wet the shammy and keep on cleaning! I'm so glad you stopped by and watched our first episode and I hope you stay tuned in as we continue to release more "Stamp Camp" episodes! See the links below for all the supplies demonstrated and discussed!

Side note- the stampin' cases are just amazing for all sorts of things. I store my adhesives and basic tools in one, embellishments in another and my memories and more fit perfectly in yet another, plus they come in packs of 4! It's just an easy way to stay organized!
