Homemade DSP ( Designer Series Paper)

Image
If you guys have been following me for any extent of time, you know that in person I am just an awkward quiet person- I have a ton to tell the world, but when I open my mouth words come out all jumbled and my brain works faster than my hands. Oh well-- I can in fact write! So, tonight we talked about making our own DSP A.K.A. Designer series paper. It can be hard decided which DSP to buy and which ones will coordinate with our projects, especially when you have a very specific project in mind. BUT if you have stamps and you have ink, you have endless possibilities for creating DSP. In my first attempt at a live, it was sideways and you may have gotten a crook in your neck trying to keep up, I am sorry... In my first video I demonstrated how to use multiple colors and images to create a beautiful back ground that coordinated perfectly with the rest of my project. All the stamps were from the same set, Merry Moose which will be available for you to purchase beginning September 4th! Whi

Since I cut into this beautiful paper earlier, I felt like I needed to keep using it so that nothing was wasted! In this card I featured a fun feature with the ornament "dangling" from the center of the card. The ornament will actually "spin" and turn on the string for a fun interactive feature!  To create this card, I simply lined up my stitched oval in the center of my pretty peacock paper and then ran it through my die cutting machine to pop out the center. Then I took the inside piece and I lined up the slightly smaller stitched oval onto and ran it through the die cutting machine to create the "frame" to go around the opening of the card. I stamped two large ornament images very vanilla cardstock using versamark ink and I embossed using the copper stamping embossing powder to coordinate with the copper accents of the DSP. I finished the ornament by coloring the image with my stampin' blends. I layer a piece of Very Vanilla on the inside o

This or That!

We are one week away from our Holiday Catalog Launch!!! I am absolutely loving the new Wrapped in Plaid suite! I created the cards below featuring the Wrapped in Plaid DSP which is AMAZING! I think I have mentioned this before, but in this pack of 6x6 paper you receive 42 sheets of pure amazingness! On one side there is a gold embossed plaid print and then on the reverse side is a coordinating pattern - holly, pinecones, stockings, snowflakes etc. SUPER CUTE! These were both just fun ways to use up the DSP and even use scraps from your bigger projects! This: I simply cut my paper strips at 3 3/4 inches by 1/2" and glued them on my whisper white layer which is 4"x 5" using my liquid multipurpose glue. Layer that onto shaded spruce cut at 4"x 5 1/4". Stamp the tree and punch him out with the coordinating punch and then punch a shaded spruce tree to layer behind him. Finish it off with stamping words in shaded spruce ink and adding the red rhinestones to &

Swap card

Earlier I talked about a swap that I had this afternoon. Everyone made some great cards and it was a fun way to get some new ideas and samples using product from our annual catalog. The parameters for this swap were to choose something new in the annual catalog. Have you ever noticed when you look through your annual book that some items have a red letter “N”? That means that product is new to the 2019-2020 annual catalog! I decided to mix some of the "old" with the "new." I was originally playing around with the pigment sprinkles and one thing led to another and I ended up with this cool bermuda bay and gorgeous grape gradient over a wave pattern and I thought- " That looks like a mermaid!" I continued playing with the sprinkles and my OCD tendencies kicked in and I just couldn't handle the lack of "control" over the sprinkles but I was still stuck on mermaid. Then the mermaid tail was born!  Paper:  Base- 4 1/4" x 5 1/2&quo
