Homemade DSP ( Designer Series Paper)
If you guys have been following me for any extent of time, you know that in person I am just an awkward quiet person- I have a ton to tell the world, but when I open my mouth words come out all jumbled and my brain works faster than my hands. Oh well-- I can in fact write! So, tonight we talked about making our own DSP A.K.A. Designer series paper. It can be hard decided which DSP to buy and which ones will coordinate with our projects, especially when you have a very specific project in mind. BUT if you have stamps and you have ink, you have endless possibilities for creating DSP. In my first attempt at a live, it was sideways and you may have gotten a crook in your neck trying to keep up, I am sorry... In my first video I demonstrated how to use multiple colors and images to create a beautiful back ground that coordinated perfectly with the rest of my project. All the stamps were from the same set, Merry Moose which will be available for you to purchase beginning September 4th! Which in case you missed it, that is next week! In my second video which also happens to be turned the proper way, I used Sailing Home which is available in our annual catalog! With this example, I demonstrated how to stamp on colored cardstock, eliminating the need for multiple ink colors. See the videos below, I have the supplies used in each video underneath the respective video, Happy Crafting! :)
Anyway some quick tips to follow when making your own DSP
- start with your largest image first
- try to not overcrowd everything with your first image
- work in diagonals or mostly evenly spaced rows
- fill in with your smallest image what ever "dead" space you may have created.
- definitely stamp off the edges and pretend that if you had a never ending piece of paper with a repeating pattern, it would just keep going, and going, and going. If you keep everything at the center of the paper it will look awkward.
